Private Car Museum
Pennsylvania
This project involved the renovation of a three story 1920’s era factory building to house and display a private car collection.
Every detail of this project needed to be worthy of the automobiles that live there- some of the coolest around. How many times do you get to look up and see the underside of a custom 1936 Ford? You can here. We cut big holes in the floor and installed structural glass panels to show off some impressive engineering and fabrication. A new steel stair leads to the second floor 36’ Ford room, art gallery and research library. Early hot rods and land speed cars fill out the third floor.
How do you get the cars up on the upper floors? you ask. We needed to enlarge the existing freight elevator shaft and install a car elevator. It was a tricky operation — hats off to Tom Capps and Spike Bales for pulling it off. Other important team members were Jim Cherry, Dave Yeager taking care of the electrical work, I.T. Landes handling the HVAC and plumbing and Stoltzfus Enterprises handling the general construction duties.
